Proprieta Sperino Uvaggio

33,90 €

In north Piemonte in the shadow of the Alps, Paolo de Marchi and his talented son Luca revive the historical area of Lessona, an area carrying a long viticultural legacy. Uvaggio is produced mainly from Nebbiolo grapes with a small percentage of Vespolina and Croatina added in the blend. According to tradition those where added to soften the fruit and add extra color to the wine. The wine comes from vineyards in Lessona and neighboring Bramaterra and ferments with indigenous yeasts in open wooden vats. This is a beautiful, floral, fruit forward version of Nebbiolo which is much more delicate and more accessible compared to similar wines sourced from Barolo and Barbaresco.

More info

Youthful in aromas and character, it is bursting with cherry, plum and raspberry fruit while oak ageing holds it up nicely. On the palate the wine is full of energy with the lively acidity and fine tannins weaving a net around the crunchy fruit. Earthy aromas, smoke, botanical notes and minerality on the palate frame the fruit, while the finish is delightful with great length. The wine has aged for 22 months in total in oak barrels of various sizes and also in the bottle before being released.
