Greek sparkling wines are forging a new identity in regions such as Amyntaio, Zitsa, and Mantinea, as well as through new projects that focus exclusively on this style. Among them, Milia Riza stands out; based in the Nemea vineyards, it brings varieties such as Agiorgitiko to the forefront through a fresh, dynamic approach. Their latest creation, Azzarda rosé, is produced from organic vineyards in the Gefyraki area of Ancient Nemea. A 100% sparkling Agiorgitiko rosé, completely dry, which remains in contact with the lees for two years after the second fermentation. With a wonderful balance of ripeness and acidity, a lively character, and a perfectly dry profile, this is a rosé with great food-pairing potential. Following the blanc de noir version of the Agiorgitiko variety, Milia Riza also “enchants”with Azzardà Rosé, a sparkling wine with exceptional vibrancy and energy. This rosé version of the variety falls into the brut nature category, meaning it is a completely dry wine with an astonishing aromatic purity that draws you to the glass. Here, Agiorgitiko departs from its classic expression. The bubbles lend freshness, while the Agiorgitiko’s wonderful fruit—cherry-like, with ripe strawberries—takes center stage and is complemented by notes of brioche and toast, a result of the traditional method. Yet another distinctive expression of Agiorgitiko from the organic vineyard in Ancient Nemea and the only Greek project exclusively dedicated to sparkling wines. A rosé sparkling wine with freshness, vibrancy, and a balance between its fruity characteristics and the complexity of its secondary aromas.
