The name “Agehoros” refers to the leader of the dance, and here Xinomavro plays the leading role with 80% in the blend, leaving the 20% Merlot to play the balancing role. Merlot lends roundness and a friendly character, tempering the unruly intensity of Xinomavro and creating a wine that is immediate, accessible, and offers excellent value for money. A wine that has found a delicate balance and has the right fruitiness between overripeness and flatness and the opposite of the unripe and dry Xinomavro. It has the energy that characterizes the Xinomavros of Naoussa due to its proximity to the mountain, while Merlot, even in small percentages, adds friendliness and charming smoothness.
With Xinomavro taking the lead, the aromatic palette revolves around red fruit: tomato, red plum, and cherry, with hints of herbal notes. The palate is characterized by its immediacy, liveliness, and ease of enjoyment stand out on the palate, without losing sight of its origins. The tannins are mild, the acidity balanced, and the wine is characterized by high drinkability, making it ideal for everyday dining. It pairs exceptionally well with pasta with red sauce and basil, seafood stew, or a variety of cheeses and cold cuts, showcasing its character at the table.
