More info
For those with more than a passing interest in the Bordeaux region, Chateau Falfas is not just located in a beautiful terroir, just 1km from the Gironde coast. Véronique Cochran has been biodynamically farming the 20 hectares of vineyards since 1988, following in the footsteps of her father François Bouchet, who was a biodynamic consultant to estates such as DRC, Domaine Leflaive, Domaine Huet and many others. Chateau Falfas is a fantastic Bordeaux fermented with indigenous yeasts and produced from 55% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec. Half of the wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels (25-35% new) and the other half in concrete tanks. Lovely, approachable, with soft texture and tannins and extremely fresh acidity, this is a wine that showcases the perfection of the 2016 vintage. If you're looking for something for the back of your cellar move on to the estate's "Le Chevalier". Not that Chateau Falfas doesn't touch the decade in potential, but this is the style of Bordeaux that local fanatics will enjoy any time of their week. Without necessarily having to wait for it.
