Pinot Grigio sourced from certified organic and biodynamic vineyards, 15–20 years of age, located on the eastern slopes of the Maiella at an altitude of 432 metres. The vines are grown on limestone-rich soils and trained according to the traditional Pergola Abruzzese system. Harvesting is carried out by hand in early September to preserve the grapes’ natural acidity and the distinctive colour compounds found in their skins. Unlike most commercially available Pinot Grigio wines, this wine retains its natural copper-pink hue, as no decolourising agents are used during vinification. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures, followed by a short period of ageing on the fine lees, enhancing both complexity and texture. A visually distinctive yet entirely authentic expression of Pinot Grigio, combining freshness, fruit-driven character and elegance, while revealing a lesser-known but remarkably captivating side of the variety.
Pinot Grigio is perhaps Italy’s most popular white grape variety. Most people know it as a pale, crisp white wine, yet in reality it is a pink-skinned grape, closely related to Pinot Noir, capable of producing wines with distinctive copper hues. Patch Pinot Grigio pays tribute to this historic tradition, presenting the grape as it truly is rather than as the modern market has come to expect it. The distinctive Patch label series, inspired by different textures and fabrics, finds one of its most fitting expressions here. The wine’s characteristic copper colour (ramato style), with subtle pink highlights naturally derived from the grape skins, offers a preview of aromas of cherry, intertwined with citrus notes and pronounced herbal nuances. On the palate, it is fresh, elegant and delightfully fruity, showing excellent balance, persistence and a distinctive green-herbal character that is difficult to overlook.
