La Croix Boissee could be the equivalent of a grand cru vineyard with the Burgundian meaning of the term and is one of the top vineyards in the whole of Chinon. Just step on the amphitheater vineyard overlooking the river Vienne to realize the superiority of this terroir. Vines on a slope of southern exposure, planted on the white (limestone) tuffeau of the area give Chinon with amazing strength, complexity and aging potential that can easily exceed twenty years. A Chinon of different class, an exercise of precision, strength and balance that meets the limits of variety in a shocking result.
One of the most remarkable aging wines of Chinon which Baudry manages in the cellar only inbarrels due to the density and strength of the fruit. Indigenous doughs, fermentation in oak barrels and maturation in old barrels bought second hand from Burgundy for at least 18 months. The depth and intensity of the fruit is amazing, the wine is extremely complex in aromas with earthy elements and tobacco. The mouth is like a punch in the stomach, with the characteristic freshness of Chinon but dense fruit and super-charged tannins with exceptional maturity. A multi-level, complex wine that will win the bet over time.
