Domaine Prieure de Saint Ceols Menetou-Salon Blanc

16,40 €

The story with "satellite" sites of well-known appellations of origin is that you often find the deal at a much better price. Menetou-Salon to the southwest of the famous Sancerre is an appellation of origin that makes identical wines to its much more famous "neighbour" but perhaps it's unfair for the comparison to just stay there. Here, Sauvignon Blanc is produced on limestone Kimmeridgian soils and together with the slightly more intense continental climate is responsible for exceptionally fresh, fruity and spicy Sauvignon. Le Prieuré de Saint-Céols is bursting with flowers, citrus and mint giving way to an equally fruity palate with beautifully integrated acidity and a mineral finish. A real deal for Sauvignon Blanc lovers.

More info

Le Prieuré de Saint-Céols was founded just 20 years ago on the remains of an old monastic convent of Benedictine monks of the 13th century by Pierre Jacolin. In 2020, the baton was passed on to Marie and Joseph de Maistre who took over the estate and cultivate it with organic farming principles and great care. For 15 years, no herbicides have ever been used on the estate. The wine is infallible Sauvignon so expect that range of exotic fruity aromas in abundance. Notes of passion fruit, citrus essential oils such as mandarin and nice freshness from green herbal notes. We wouldn't tell you to age it, after all it's hard to keep yourself from enjoying the characteristic spirit and freshness of a perfectly typical Sauvignon Blanc.
