Marcel Deiss Engelgarten

The "garden of angels" is one of the most famous terroirs in Bergheim, with a gravel structure that stresses the plant and leads to small yields of extremely ripe grapes. Among Marcel Deiss' famous and controversial premier cru, since the term does not apply in Alsace, this is a sensational wine with breadth and expressiveness on the nose but also an almost "vertical" palate, bursting with energy and power and traveling through the wine, giving it length on the palate. The minerality here is reminiscent of stone and gives it an extremely flavourful dimension. Austere yet ripe, a wine that can age for many many years developing its stunning complexity.

More info

Field blend of Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Beurot, Muscat and Pinot Noir, from vineyards planted between 1977 and 1997, giving grapes of excellent structure and concentration. The highlight of the minerality in this wine is expressed as if you have squeezed a "stone" into the glass and clearly captures the terroir of this great vineyard. A stunning dry wine of structure, with sharp character, minerality and a slight bitterness on the finish that culinary elevates it. Shellfish and seafood, as fresh and raw as possible.
