La Grange Tiphaine Côt Vieilles Vignes

A vineyard that is a feast for the eyes, a piece of land over 100-120 years old that Damien and Coralie Delecheneau's family owns and loves more than any other vineyard they have. At the same time, however, it is also one of the greatest red wines of the Loire, a Malbec that is far from the tannic, rustic, aggressive version of southern France and stands out for its level of elegance and quality, the result of old vines with the variety's numerous natural clones, low yields per hectare, limestone soils, and biodynamic cultivation. Amazing complexity and roundness, with dense, almost smoky fruit, gooseberry, black cherry, and a palate that is crisp and fresh with ripe, velvety, and persistent tannins. Robust but mature, with perfect acidity and a long finish.

More info

This amazing piece of land is located just 5 minutes from the winery and is one of the oldest Malbec vineyards in the world. The vineyard is beautiful, difficult to cultivate and prune, with no room for tractors and requiring a lot of manual labor. After the harvest, the bunches are removed from the stems, sorted, and then placed in concrete tanks for alcoholic fermentation. Extraction is very gentle, without recirculation or punching down of the juice, and when they decide that the wine has acquired the characteristics they want, they press the wine. The free-run wine is blended with the pressed wine and aged for 8-10 months in old oak barrels. One of the estate's cuvées that can truly age for many years. A lamb leg roasted in the oven with potatoes and herbs would be the perfect accompaniment.

Penetrating tensions with beautiful oxidation supported by notes of citrus peel and candied lemon. Give it time to open up and it will throw a party of aromas with saffron and curry, tobacco leaves, nuts such as walnuts and roasted almonds, and earthy notes of truffle. Full of umami on the palate, minerality reminiscent of peat and shellfish, intense...
