    Les Saint Jacques is an extremely delicate exercise in precision. The voluptuous richness that the wine possesses is not the enemy of the finesse it manages to project at the same time. The exceptional terroir of "Les Saint Jacques" right at the base of the hillside below the renowned 1er Cru "Clos Saint Jacques" gives the wine floral elegance and mineral freshness. It also demonstrates a wonderful balance of buttery texture and savoury mouthfeel. It is not a premier cru but the quality is close to one, which proves Pierre de Benoist's winemaking talent. A Chardonnay with a strong personality that leaves a vivid maritime memory in your glass.

    The wine is vinified in a combination of large foudres and oak barrels and matured for about 12 months without stirring the lees. No other intervention is made in the wine and sulphites are at very low levels. Delicate and intense at the same time in its aromatic intensity, it unfolds aromas of lemon curd, peach, quince and fresh pineapple, along with hazelnut and brioche notes. Despite its volume on the palate, it's dry with kiwi acidity and an almost savoury touch on the tongue until the long enjoyable finish. It will age superbly for at least five years in bottle.
