G. D. Vajra Barbera d' Alba

18,60 €

If we consider Barolo and Barbaresco to be the king and queen of the Piemonte respectively, then Barbera comes across as a noble of the royal court. A grape that shines through its energy and the characteristic acidity that it possesses. The Vajra’s Barbera d’ Alba excites with its immediate, unpretentious, expressive character. It has similar liveliness and fruit that one finds in red Burgundy but with a slightly rustic character. It is a wine with many levels, energetic, aromatic and nice depth. It comes from a series of different vineyards of the estate. It has matured for 14 months in stainless steel tanks and in that way it expresses its primary aromatic dynamic in full and with great precision.

More info

The Vajra family avoid a more fancy or modern version of the variety that would mean new barrique in plenty, leaving their classic Barbera to rest solely on stainless steel tanks. And even though it remains a wine with toned alcohol, strength and intensity, the wonderful fruit of the variety shines on through clearly and reminds of wild cherries and blueberries. It combines with fresh Mediterranean herbs, flowers of the field and vegetal notes like tea leaves. The alcohol hides beautifully inside the crispy acidity of the wine that gives it a pulsating feeling through its finish, full of fresh red fruits. A mild and juicy Barbera with liveliness, nerve and enjoyable character.
