Antonio Madeira Dão Tinto

19,70 €

In a sea of industrialized and economical wines that currently make up the Dao region, Antonio Madeira has created a truly different world that continues to produce quality wines from the region's premier wine-growing subzone, Serra de Estrella. His desire to restore Dao to its former glory is linked to the "magic" of the region's old field blend vineyards, the altitude, the granite soils, and the countless—almost extinct—varieties that once flourished in the region. Tinto is the introduction to his portfolio and is a wine made from grapes purchased from local winegrowers who respect the cultivation of their vineyards and do not use herbicides or other chemical compounds. While the "heart" of his wine philosophy and its finest expressions come from Antonio's own vineyards, this particular wine shows beautiful concentration, depth, and exceptional levels of freshness. Well-structured but also direct, this is a wine in which fruit plays the leading role.

More info

Antonio Madeira's winemaking philosophy begins with his imported wine, which is based on the same principles of minimal intervention. Dao Tinto is produced from many different varieties, mainly Alfrocheiro and Jaen, and is aged for a total of 12 months in old oak barrels. Additions are minimal, with the sole exception of a small amount of sulphites added to the wine before bottling. Like all his wines, it is bottled unfiltered and unclarified and is an excellent gastronomic wine that can be opened now or up to five years after harvest.
