Moinoterra brings the historic terroir of Archanes back into the spotlight, beautifully bridging the region’s nearly lost tradition with the finesse that defines all the winery’s wines. The Reserve, the aged version of PDO Archanes, differs in varietal composition from the classic PDO label and is based on Mandilari, with a subtle “touch” of Kotsifali. On the nose, it unfolds a complex aromatic profile of red and black fruits such as sour cherry, black cherry, and plum, framed by notes of wild herbs, oak spices, and dried flowers. On the palate, the structure and power of Mandilari stand out, along with the influence of oak and the concentration of the fruit, which remains pure and multilayered. The finish is earthy, complex, and long-lasting. A wine deeply rooted in the authentic character of the region’s reds.
Vines over 30 years old, located at the highest altitude of the zone at 650 meters, with a northeastern exposure. Poor soils and extremely low yields lead to fruit of remarkable concentration. Vinification includes a cold pre-fermentation maceration, followed by a 14-day extraction and spontaneous fermentation. Only free-run juice is used, ensuring maximum purity. The wine is aged for 12 months in second-use 225L oak barrels and an additional 12 months in bottle. An exceptionally high-quality revival of the Archanes zone, balancing power with refinement, and featuring beautifully integrated oak.
