Pataille Bourgogne Aligoté "La Charme aux Prêtres"

90,10 €

In Burgundy, Chardonnay always steals the show, but Sylvain Pataille highlights Aligoté as a “co-star” with unexpected charm. Burgundy’s lesser-known grape lends an “immortal” charm to the region’s wines, adding a unique dimension to its distinctive terroir. The single-vineyard La Charme aux Prêtres comes from vines planted in 1949 on clay-limestone soils rich in fossils. In the glass, the austere, taut structure and the almost smoky reductive notes open up into an expression of freshness and energy, reminiscent of the first autumn rains. The wine impresses with its complex minerality, balanced without a trace of harshness, and reveals the unique characteristics of the old vineyard.

More info

La Charme aux Prêtres is an elegant, expressive Aligoté with striking finesse. Aromas of verbena, lemon, and citrus leaves complement its crisp, mineral freshness. The low yields per hectare from the 1949 vines offer concentrated fruit without harshness, while on the palate it displays energy and maturity. Biodynamic cultivation, native yeasts, aging in old barrels, and minimal sulfur addition during bottling create a crystalline expression of this stony terroir. A wine that will age gracefully, revealing smoky complexity and even greater depth over the years.
