Gauby Vieilles Vignes Blanc

41,30 €

Although the vision of many producers in the south of France was to produce wines that could be stylistically reminiscent of the New World, the great Gerard Gauby decided to follow a different path by turning to the past. Based on varieties linked for centuries to his land, applying biodynamic farming principles and reviving old dry, steep vineyards, he became a symbol for all producers aiming for finesse and delicacy in their wines. The Vieilles Vignes white is a landmark of Gauby's style, it has an undeniable Mediterranean character alongside yet balancing acidity and freshness that artfully conceal the warmth of the terroir. The honeyed quality on the finish brings to mind great Hermitage whites.

More info

Wonderfully rich and concentrated, in a combination of fresh fruit with quince, honey and tahini. Those who love Rhone white wines will love it. The acidity is not prominent but perfectly balances the slightly oily texture of the wine. The combination of Macabeu and Grenache Gris from average ninety year old vines is vinified with indigenous yeasts in concrete tanks and aged for eighteen months in old foudres. A wine for those who are really looking for something completely different for their cellar that will evolve as wonderfully as a white Burgundy for the next ten years at least.
