Antonio Madeira Dão Tinto "Vinha da Serra"

69,90 €

The small vineyard produces less than 500 bottles of wine per year, and Antonio calls it his "Musigny." The soils of Vinha da Serra are granitic and located at the highest point of Antonio's vineyards, at an altitude of over 600 meters. The vines are ancient, averaging 100 years old, and the main variety in the field blend is Tinta Amarela, known as the Pinot of Dão. Its aromatic expression is seductive, with wonderful floral notes, along with cherries and forest fruits. The palate is fresh with "sharp" acidity and endless energy, with the wine enlivened by notes of framboise and cherry. Structured and with intensity and energy that give it great aging potential. Another fantastic cru from this pioneering producer that highlights the uniqueness of this very special vineyard.

More info

The ancient field blend vineyard is cultivated manually based on the principles of biodynamic and organic farming. Fermentation is completely natural and maturation takes place in used barrels for approximately 18 months. The wine has high intensity and complexity, mineral notes and super-elegant tannins, with an absolutely amazing refined character. Another of Antonio Madeira's masterpieces, which draws on both the depth of flavor and the ethereal elegance of the wines he manages to produce in the Dao highlands.

Penetrating tensions with beautiful oxidation supported by notes of citrus peel and candied lemon. Give it time to open up and it will throw a party of aromas with saffron and curry, tobacco leaves, nuts such as walnuts and roasted almonds, and earthy notes of truffle. Full of umami on the palate, minerality reminiscent of peat and shellfish, intense...
