Isole e Olena Cepparello

116,30 €

The emblematic wine remains a flagship of the Italian vineyard and takes its name from a small stream that runs in the Isole e Olena estate. It began production in 1980 from 100% Sangiovese and belongs to the famous category of Super Tuscans, as in that time it was now allowed to produce Chianti relying solely on Sangiovese. But Cepparello speaks of Tuscany exalting the character of the variety and the terroir of the area with Paolo de Marchi avoiding to distort it during winemaking. Cepparello is a great wine not because of its imposing concentration, its robustness or the use of expensive oak. Instead it holds primarily as its flag, the terroir it comes from and connotations of finesse, elegance, precision, subtlety and freshness.

More info

The character of Sangiovese raises gloriously out of the glass. Black and red cherry, plum, tea leaves, dried herbs and box of tobacco aromas and cedar all lead to a complex palate, rich and with length but at the same time fresh and with energy. For yet another year tannins of outstanding texture that unveil in the glass and form the backbone of the wine without ever being ungracious. The key word here is balance and it is achieved early from the beginning, but that doesn’t mean that the wine doesn’t have huge potential for ageing.
