The grand cru vineyard of Pfersigberg is one of the jewels of Kuentz Bas and produces sensational Riesling with depth, intensity, power and truly great aging potential. The extra effort required to cultivate such a rugged vineyard with its steep slopes and poor limestone soils according to biodynamic farming principles provides the Rieslings that emerge from its "bowels" with minerality, richness, longevity and an impressive resistance to the passage of time. A truly unique terroir which, as it evolves in the bottle, will increasingly leave its distinctive mineral imprint on the wine.
From the steep slopes of the Pfersigberg and the fossil-rich limestone soils, the Riesling manages to combine amazing levels of ripeness and juicy character, with intense minerality and refreshing acidity. Citrus aromas, juicy white-fleshed fruit, honey and smoky mineral character lead to a rich, honeyed mouthfeel, with spicy notes and a persistent finish. Alsace Rieslings are "magical" wines, and the way this Kuentz Bas masterpiece will age in the bottle for more than twenty years is magical. As long as you have the patience to wait for it!
