Terre Nere Etna Bianco Santo Spirito

42,30 €

Etna Bianco Santo Spirito is one of those wines that change the narrative surrounding Italian whites. From the bland, characterless Pinot Grigio that floods the markets, to a 100% single-vineyard Carricante from old vines on the slopes of Etna, it has come a long way. Loaded with tension and unusual levels of complexity for a white wine, Santo Spirito highlights the greatness of Carricante in the volcanic terroir of Etna. It stands out for its remarkable minerality and salinity, but also for its dense, ripe, soft fruit that balances the nerve, giving it a wonderful, rich texture. The next time you doubt the quality of Italian whites, think of Etna.

More info

With Etna Bianco from the dramatic, dark, volcanic ash-filled terroir of Santo Spirito, Marco de Grazia takes fruit ripeness, complexity, and length on the palate to another level. Initially somewhat closed and compact, over time it unfolds a deep, earthy, mineral dimension and greater extroversion in the fruit, which borders on the exotic. The barrel is perfectly integrated, adding extra volume and complexity to the aromas and flavors. Its texture is almost buttery, with a palate that combines power and freshness, leading to a slightly phenolic (tannic) finish. Unlike the simple Etna Bianco, Santo Spirito is vinified in large 5 and 10 hl oak barrels and then aged for 9 months in French barriques, gaining texture and complexity and highlighting a great terroir for whites as well.
