Liga Roditis Barrique

31,60 €

The Roditis Barrique has something of Melina Mercouri’s charm: it possesses an intensity and energy that wins you over from the very first moment, a dynamic wine that is a “burst of personality” from this great variety. It is complex and multifaceted; it does not impose itself but gradually wins you over. Deeply expressive with a “galloping naturalness,” it is a wine full of confidence and character that showcases the variety. The nose reveals ripe fruit, dried notes, nuts, and a subtle mineral dimension, while on the palate the wine is full-bodied, with texture and structure derived from both maceration and barrel aging. An orange wine that expresses Roditis in a more mature, contemplative way—less conventional, yet full of substance and character.

More info

A 100% Roditis wine made with skin contact, from 30-year-old vines cultivated organically using permaculture principles, on limestone, clay, and sandy soils at an elevation of 120 meters with a north-south orientation. The harvest is done by hand and fermentation is spontaneous, as with all of the winery’s zero-intervention wines. Vinification involves maceration with whole grapes for 7 days in a stainless steel tank at 17–18°C, with the must then transferred to 400L Austrian oak barrels to complete fermentation. This is followed by aging for 6 months on the fine lees in the same barrels. The wine has good body, mild tannins from skin contact, and exceptional complexity resulting from the interplay of fruit, oxidative elements, and barrel. It is bottled unfiltered, without sulfites, as a pure and unpretentious expression of an orange Roditis wine.

Penetrating tensions with beautiful oxidation supported by notes of citrus peel and candied lemon. Give it time to open up and it will throw a party of aromas with saffron and curry, tobacco leaves, nuts such as walnuts and roasted almonds, and earthy notes of truffle. Full of umami on the palate, minerality reminiscent of peat and shellfish, intense...
