Liga Moschomavro MVL

Moschomavro MVL is one of the rare varietal expressions of the Northern Greek vineyard. The Moschomavro variety, grown in very limited quantities mainly in Macedonia, in regions such as Siatista and Pella, is a variety often used as a complement in blends, primarily with Xinomavro or other white varieties. It has a fruity, floral, and spicy aromatic profile with a deeper earthy dimension. MVL is an exceptionally expressive wine that combines red fruits, an aromatic floral dimension, and exceptional elegance. It is fresh, lively on the palate, pleasant, and has a structure that makes it irresistibly easy to drink. The wine strikes a balance between freshness and aromatic intensity, capturing a rare varietal expression of a grape with a distinctive character.

More info

Moschomavro MVL is an authentic, low-intervention expression of this rare variety from Pella, where the Ligas family works using organic practices and permaculture principles. The grapes come from 13-year-old vines in limestone and clay soils, harvested by hand and fermented spontaneously with native yeasts. Vinification follows a zero-intervention approach, with 7 days of maceration in a stainless steel tank at low temperatures of 17–18°C, preserving the variety’s fresh and aromatic character. The wine remains on its fine lees for 6 months before bottling, without filtration or the addition of sulfur. In the glass, it reveals an intensely aromatic profile with red fruits, herbal notes, and lively acidity that adds a lively edge. The body is light to medium, the alcohol content is low, and combined with its clean structure, it makes for a very refreshing, light-bodied red wine.
