Chandon de Briailles Savigny Les Beaune 1er Cru "Aux Fournaux"

88,10 €

Nestled alongside the imposing and glamorous Grand Crus of the majestic Corton Hill, Chandon des Briailles remains equally committed to producing exceptional wines that are not a privilege for just a few. The premier cru Aux-Fournaux is an exceptional vineyard within the less fancy Savigny-lès-Beaune designation of origin, where the de Nicolay family has been cultivating their vines since the 19th century. Aux-Fournaux captures all the beauty of an ethereal red Burgundy: fresh, slightly austere fruit, elegance and softness in the mouth with lacy tannins. An extremely chic and direct version of Pinot Noir from a lesser-known but great Burgundy terroir.

More info

On the lower part of the slope, on the border with the vineyards of Pernand-Vergelesses, Aux-Fournaux sits on deep soils with clay and limestone, which becomes more pronounced towards the highest point of the vineyard. The combination of this soil with vines that are more than 60 years old gives a fine Pinot Noir, which balances between fresh fruit reminiscent of strawberry and cherry and a delicate, elegant mineral line that permeates the wine. In the mouth it presents excellent balance, with soft tannins and ideal acidity that gives freshness and intense nerve to the aftertaste. A premier cru that comfortably competes with well-known - and with great specific weight - wines of the region.

Penetrating tensions with beautiful oxidation supported by notes of citrus peel and candied lemon. Give it time to open up and it will throw a party of aromas with saffron and curry, tobacco leaves, nuts such as walnuts and roasted almonds, and earthy notes of truffle. Full of umami on the palate, minerality reminiscent of peat and shellfish, intense...
