Markos Markovitis produces a Naoussa style that fits the old-fashioned traditions of the region, without the use of synthetic chemicals, with organic farming and very old barrels. At the same time it has a fascinating immediacy and purity of fruit achieving a subtle capture of the distinctive characteristics of each vintage. Almost always, it finds the perfect balance against the captivating power of Xinomavro. It is expressed through an elegant performance in the tannins, with elegance versus obvious power and with the red fruit consistently taking the lead. The 2017 is a year that has evolved in an exceptional way, with a greater percentage of the wine coming from vines that were 5 years old and replanted by Marcos Markovitis. Lovely fruit, "sour" evolution and tannins elegant and delicate, yet always strong in character.
The bouquet offers a beautiful and expressive combination of red and dried fruit, spicy characters given by the sour black and earthy notes. The wine has acidity and tannins with beautiful concentration in the fruit, it is absolutely typical of the variety and even more so of its production zone, and despite the youth of the vines it has evolved beautifully over time. A totally enjoyable Naoussa, typical and ideal for the variety's fanatics. Always combining strength and elegance. It can age for some time yet, so feel free to keep it in your cellar further.
